September 06, 2025 - Glass Cannon
Born onto my hero's path
My line so clearly drawn
Is that the sun? On second glance,
My light outshines the dawn.
I wore my future well, I thought;
Hell, I might wear it best
But at age four, that awful thing
Took Dad, and all the rest.
The future written out for me
Was handed off to him
The younger, better model
With whom my light grew dim.
But I can do that too! I thought,
Determined, now, to take
The destiny paved out for me,
To win for winning's sake.
So with nothing to lose but flesh,
The light within me burst.
This cannon might simply explode
If I don't burn up first.
Do I think this is a very good poem? No. Have I written poetry in the last four years? Also no.
With that in mind, I'm happy that I cranked something out at all, even if it wasn't quite
what I wanted to write. You're welcome to guess who specifically this is about, but this was more to
help me get back into the swing of things, writing-wise. I hope you enjoyed anyways!
